PRIVATE TO SELF

I . . . I've been having a couple weird dreams lately, and I really wish they'd stop.

I mean, I've had dreams with Higashikata in them before, but they weren't LIKE this. They were just tennis dreams.

You know, with real tennis.

These are tennis dreams without the tennis. They start out and we're in a classroom, Banji's the teacher, though I've never had Banji for a teacher, and Higashikata sits right behind me, even though his name comes before mine in the alphabet and he should be off to my left somewhere.

Class gets dismissed, Banji tells us to stay after, then says we can't leave until we do XXX to each other, for the sake of our tennis.

So, in the dream we do and it's kinda creepy because Banji's watching.

WTF me.

Made it to camp safely. So far so good.

I have Sakaki-sensei as my teacher. He rather intimidates me, but I hope I can learn from him. Hopefully he won't be disappointed with me.

Momoshirou-san from Seigaku is my roommate. He's a nice guy, so I'm sure we'll do well. Unless he gets sloppy. Then we will HAVE WORDS.
I feel good about this so far. Let's all have fun.

So, a tennis camp.

Until the letter came, I'd been debating on not playing tennis this year, but I hadn't told anybody. I'm in the club now, sure, but there's nothing to stop me from quitting. I doubt many would notice if I stopped showing up at practice; my tennis is a lot less showy than Sengoku's.

But I think I'll go anyway. It'll be a test of my resolve. If I go and honestly feel like I don't want to play tennis anymore, when I'm surrounded by so many talented players, then that's the end for me. So here's to one last chance to get back into the game.

Hello Life, can we go back to being boring for a while?

It's been a month since I've updated, so to catch everybody up . . .

Taji came home. He says he got caught up in a road trip and it was inconvinent  to call. He's indefinitely grounded and then a few days later, Mom found weed in his coat pocket. The kid may never see the light of day again.

Also, I've made a new friend. I'd tell you all more, but I'm not the kiss and tell type of guy.

And I'm also sick. Again, I'd tell you more, but I'm not the TMI kind of guy either.

I have more cookies from Mom to give out. Don't worry, they aren't contagious (though they are addictive. Someone take them from me, please).

My little brother skipped school on the day of the quake and hasn't come back.

My parents haven't seen him either.

We've been making phone calls all over, but none of his friends know where he went.

The police have been notified, so officially his missing. I've never hoped so bad that he's just runaway and will turn up in a day or two.

My mom wants me to stay with her until Taji comes back he better come back but Dad thinks it's better I stay at the apartment in case he shows up there first.

He better get his ass home soon.

FUCK, I've never been so scared in my life.

Belated Happy New Years, people. And a belated happy birthday for Dan-kun. I'm still made of fail and forgot to post you a birthday message. I shall know do what I always do when I forget and leave my mother's cookies in your mailbox. I'll try to find something more personal to send your way once I sort myself out.

The new year started on a rather rough note of my parent's house catching on fire. Don't panic though, it was put out rather fast and they didn't really lose anything. It'll have to be renovated and some work is going to have to be put in it to make that part of the house liveable. My parents are staying with my grandparents until it's done. My Dad is trying to convince Mom that this is the opportunity for them to finally move out into the country. He says he misses the earth or something. Mom says he needs to visit the park more then. I don't really know what they'll do, but probably wind up back in the house once it's back in shape.

Taji somehow managed to score permission to stay with me for a while. Guess I'm sharing that new sofa bed. If he still kicks in his sleep, he's going on the floor, guest or not. On the up side, mom has sent lots of food with Taji so we should both be fed, and I have a contract posted on the fridge that means Taji will not be inviting his friends over. He's not throwing parties in my pad, no matter what he thinks.

Well, that's what's going on in the life of my family. I need to find myself a life so these posts have more substance.

Merry Christmas!

I hope you all had a great day today. I spent mine at my parents, watching them spoil my little brother. I did get some stuff for the apartment (I have a SOFABED. It barely fits in here when it's pulled out, but it's wonderful.)

My brother was amiable today and asked if he could visit my apartment while he was on break. I couldn't tell him no, even though I'd rather he didn't. He was too nice today to not be up to something. He may just want the opportunity to tell me how small and lame it is. Mom seems to think he misses me or something, though I can't imagine how when she's asking me home nearly every other day to do something for her.

Maybe I should have moved a bit further away. ^^

I mailed Higashikata a card to his parents house because I lost my address book when I moved. I hope he gets it. Sengoku-san, my mom made you some more cookies, I'll leave them in your mailbox for you.

Ah, and I have a gift for you too, Itsuki-san, to say thank you for all the wonderful food since I moved in. I found it online and I think you'll like it. I just hope you don't have one.

I went to my parents house after work today and was gifted a months supply of cola biscuits from my mother. She also made me some rice balls. My mother makes the most perfect rice balls in Japan (and rice balls made anywhere else aren't really rice balls). She seemed torn between letting me take all of my cola biscuits home and making me leave some of them there. I think she's trying to use them as bait to lure me home. It's not like she lives particularly far away or anything, but if I spend more time with her than in my apartment, then I never actually moved out, just bought a room to store my useless stuff.

And living in the apartment also means having to see less of Taji, which is best. If we lived together we'd fight more and I'm tired of mother having to cry over it.

Naturally, since I visited my mother, Taji was there. Taji took great joy in telling me about how wonderful high school is for him, but when I failed to get excited for him over it, he acted like I was a cold-hearted bastard. I don't know what he expects from me. Of course I'm glad school's great, but I don't exactly carry confetti around with me.

Mother says that most nights Taji stays out late and it worries her. She's wanting me to talk to him and see if he's staying out of trouble. It seems that when she doesn't see us fighting, she assumes we're friends. If Taji was getting into trouble, I'd be the last one to know, if only because he'd enjoy the fact I'd be clueless. I'll try to talk civil with him next time I visit, and maybe the stars will align and he'll tell me the truth and it's just innocent fun that he's caught himself in.

She's better off asking his friends. If she'd just bribe them with her rice balls, they'll rat him out while stuffing their faces.

Well, I've managed to unpack (nearly) all my stuff and the apartment still looks empty.  If I disappeared, the landlord could resell the apartment as is and still couldn't call it furbished.

I think I may have lost a gerbil somewhere. That or I simply miscounted. I'd counted seven baby gerbils before, and now there are six. I don't think they can really see quite yet, so if there was a seventh, he couldn't have wondered far.

My boss decided that after a week on the job, it was time to scare me. He dropped a folder bigger than my head on my desk and said to alphabetize the forms inside, and when I finished, he had a filing cabinet full of folders that needed the same treatment. I went to college for this?
